I was fascinated to learn that the human body is protected from pathogenic bacteria by being wrapped in a thin, layered veil of indigenous bacteria, at a seminar at the Institution of Food Research in Norwich (Now it was merged into Quadram Institute) a while ago when I was a PhD student in crop genetics at John Innes Centre. When coming through the mother's birth canal, the baby is coated and protected by the mother's indigenous bacteria. It enters from the mouth and becomes the base of intestinal bacteria of the baby. Not just humans, even bees and ants are coated with microbes all over their bodies, which also play an important role in their immune system. That's why they can survive in such a dense nest.
That's why I've always wanted to live a life that takes care of the indigenous bacteria as much as possible. So I don't want to use detergent on my body. That's where Clay comes in. However, not just any clay will do. Ordinary clay is alkaline and has a cleansing effect, but it makes your hair stiff. However, only the brown clay that has been used in Morocco for a long time to wash hair and body has lubricant texture when wet and could be used for this purpose. By blending another clay with the brown clay, I have developed a shampoo clay that is more suitable for washing hair. 100% clay shampoo. Of course no bubbles! By spreading the clay water all over the hair and rubbing in, it washes away oil and dirt. Rinse well to remove the clay under the shower. When the hair is dried, you will notice it is smooth. My hair roots stand up probably because the pores were tightened I guess.
But there are people who just don't get along. The basic action of clay is detoxification, so hair with chemical hair dyes (☠) and residual hair styling agents will come out and make the hair texture sticky until they are removed. But don't worry, you can solve it although temporarily by using citric acid rinse to neutralise the pH. It's an improvement reaction, so if you continue to use clay shampoo without getting discouraged, it will definitely improve. And restore true hair and scalp health.
It's much softer than detergent, so it's suitable for children and babies, but be careful not to get it in their cute little eyes. I usually tilt their head back when applying it.
